Did the men whom the Romans crucified in the first century wear loin cloth or were they naked on the cross?
The artists, e.g. Rubens and El Greco, painted Jesus wearing loin cloth on the cross. I understand why they did that. But what does the historical record say? Did the crucified victims actually have on any clothing at all? Please state your source.

Naked. And their feet were positioned so that their genitals were thrust out. It was done in order to humiliate them.

Yes they wore loin cloth, when they put you on the cross tey would just take your outer garments.

The punishment of crucifixion was intended to be mortifyingly humiliating so naturally the victims were stripped bare.

If you read the scripture carefully, what does it say the Romans did? He is portrayed as wearing a loincloth so as not to embarrass those who consider nude icons to be indecent. Its just more hypocrisy by the churches…but has nothing to do with Christianity.
